About the project
The DMACC Capitol Center is considered part of DMACC’s Urban Campus. Its home to DMACC’s Nursing, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Early Childhood Education programs. After the Capitol Center complex was purchased, this former office building needed to be transformed to an academic nursing program.
Along with traditional classroom space, much of the building is configured as patient rooms identical to a modern medical clinic. It’s also the home of the DMACC Healthcare Simulation Center that features state-of-the-art, life-like, automated anatomically-correct human models that can be programmed to talk and display symptoms of various illnesses and conditions. These high-tech “patients” provide students with hands-on experience in evaluating illnesses they will encounter on the job in hospitals and clinics. Luckily for us, they still needed real people to transform this space and finish the job.
